Mothers and Lovers

MOTHERS AND LOVERS is a beautiful and sensitive journey through the most profound and perplexed relationships of human beings, seen through the eyes of some of our greatest writers. Inspired by themes and plays of our 2nd year Theatre Lab Workshop programme, in this production, our students will transfer us to a labyrinth of emotions through some magnificent scenes of the classical repertoire accompanied by live piano and famous songs. The songs, the plays and the characters – famous mothers and lovers of literature – immortalised in the words of great writers, meet for this unique performance… Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull meets Queen’s Bohemian Rhapshody, Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House meets David Bowie’s Lady Grinning Soul, August Strindberg’s Miss Julie meets Amy Winehouse. The programme comprised 10-weekend intensive workshops, this time focusing on the classical repertoire, and included the plays of Anton Chekhov, Federico García Lorca, Henrik Ibsen, Tennessee William, Molière, William Shakespeare, Bertolt Brecht, Euripides, August Strindberg and Samuel Beckett.
